A Vermont State Trooper must appear in court to answer charges in a use-of force incident.

The Vermont State Police cited Trooper Robert Zink on suspicion of simple assault following an investigation into an incident February 23rd in Shaftsbury.

An internal report from a trooper resulted in a six-week investigation into accusations Zink struck Christopher Campbell, who was in handcuffs but resisting arrest and combative with multiple officers.

The investigation found the strikes “do not appear to be in response to Campbell’s actions.” On the force since 2008, Zink will be arraigned on Monday on assault, according to the State Police.
