The Great Barrington, Massachusetts selectboard has tabled an open letter from community members aimed at rebutting a controversial pro-herd immunity declaration named after the town.
The communique came in response to the release earlier this month of the Great Barrington Declaration by the American Institute Of Economic Research, a conservative think-tank.
Selectboard member Leigh Davis says she’ll be working on a second draft of the missive after the town’s elected officials found it too strongly-worded to endorse at Monday’s meeting.
“Such as the unequivocal disagreement with how the name of the town was being used in the declaration and whether or not there was collateral damage done to our town with the use of the Town of Great Barrington,” she explained.
Davis says she’ll be bringing the revised letter back to the selectboard next Monday.
