Bright Nights Holiday Light Display Is On, With Some Changes Due To COVID-19

Spirit of Springfield

At least one traditional event is not being cancelled this year because of the pandemic.

It was announced this week that Bright Nights at Forest Park in Springfield will be held.

The massive holiday light display will go on for a 26th year.

There will be public health safety measures observed that will require some changes.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Judy Matt, president of Spirit of Springfield, the organization that produces Bright Nights.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
