Vermont has started offering $30 to Vermonters to spend at local businesses to help residents and businesses hurt by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Buy Local Vermont program was created by the state to help businesses hurt by the pandemic.  Vermont Governor Phil Scott says more than 1,300 businesses are participating.  “This initiative was passed by the Legislature earlier this summer with a goal of injecting a half-a-million dollars of federal relief funds into our local businesses across the state. And while it’s not nearly enough, it’s a start.”

As of midday Tuesday, more than 10,000 Vermonters were trying to sign up and the website was having some trouble.
