A fire in Pittsfield, Massachusetts left a woman dead Monday night.

The Berkshire District Attorney’s office says firefighters responded to a structure fire on Chickering Street just after 10 p.m.

“Firefighters located Frances Lysonski, 74, on the second floor," said Public Information Officer Andy McKeever. "EMS transported her to Berkshire Medical Center where she later died at approximately 11:20 p.m.”

It took the Pittsfield Fire Department 45 minutes to contain the flames. A firefighter was injured during the fire, but was later released from the hospital after receiving care. While the investigation continues, authorities say the focus is on an accidental cause.
