Man Charged With Assault After Thrown Pickle Hits Worker

A Massachusetts man is facing an assault charge after police say he threw a large pickle from a moving vehicle that hit a Vermont highway worker.
Vermont State Police say the incident occurred Monday on U.S. Route 7 in Pownal near the border crossing into Massachusetts.

Police say a passenger in a southbound vehicle threw an object “later determined to be a large pickle” that hit a highway worker and “caused him pain.”

Thirty-four-year-old Christoph Herrmannsdoerfer, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, was cited to appear in court in Bennington next month to answer to a charge of simple assault.

Phone messages were left at phone numbers listed for Herrmannsdoerfer. It was not immediately known if he's being represented by an attorney.
