COVID-19 Simulator Scientist Says Reopening Too Soon Will Hasten Second Surge

https://www.covid19sim.org/

Two Boston-area medical institutions have launched a COVID-19 simulator that offers models of the pandemic’s trajectory and guidance on how reopening the country could affect its spread. Jag Chhatwal is an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and a senior scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital. He spoke with WAMC about the simulator, what data it uses, and how its creators hope it will influence public policy.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
