Burlington, Vermont police say a 38-year-old man is dead and police are searching for two men who fled the scene after a Sunday night shooting.
Police were called to a North Avenue home at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of multiple gunshots. The victim, Steven C. Martin, was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington with gunshot injuries and later pronounced dead.
Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger said Monday afternoon the investigation is in its early stages. “However we do have strong reason to believe that this was not a random act. The information gathered so far strongly suggest that the individuals involved were known to each other.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Burlington police.
