The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts and the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division have announced an investigation into the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke following the deaths of more than 30 residents from COVID-19. WAMC spoke with U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling Friday about what the investigation will entail, and how it will complement two parallel investigations announced by Governor Charlie Baker and state Attorney General Maura Healey.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
