Massachusetts Casinos To Remain Closed Until May 4

Casinos in Massachusetts will remain closed through April.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has ordered the state’s three casinos to remain closed until noon on May 4^th.  That is in keeping with Gov. Charlie Baker’s order shutting all non-essential businesses until then.

Commission chair Cathy Judd-Stein said public health conditions will be monitored to determine the status of casino operations in advance of May 4^th

                   ^{" We will be nimble and meet accordingly if we have to," said Judd-Stein at meeting of the five-member commission that was held remotely on April 3.}

MGM Springfield committed to pay employees for the first two weeks of the shutdown that began on March 14^th.   It said health insurance for furloughed workers would be kept in place through June 30^th.  

MGM Resorts International announced a $1 million employee grant fund.
