The first grants from a new COVID-19 response fund in western Massachusetts are expected to be announced this week.
The fund was set up by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts to help nonprofit organizations that are taking care of vulnerable populations including the elderly and the homeless during the pandemic.
Launched last week with a $1 million donation from MassMutual, the fund now totals almost $1.8 million.
WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Katie Allan Zobel, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.
