Earlier today, President Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to mobilize production of coronavirus testing kits and personal protective equipment on a wartime level. Massachusetts U.S. Senator Ed Markey called on Trump to use the act – crafted in 1950 during the Korean War –  March 15th. The Democrat spoke with WAMC what the act entails, and the shortages Massachusetts faces during the pandemic.
