Pittsfield Community Radio Station To Hold On-Air Fundraiser

The community radio station in Pittsfield, Massachusetts is holding its first fundraiser on Tuesday.

The current incarnation of WTBR has only been in existence since January.

“WTBR was associated with Taconic High School for so long, and once Taconic High School decided they didn’t want to be in the radio business anymore, there was a push to save WTBR," explains Coordinator of Advancement and Community Production Bob Heck. And Pittsfield Community Television took up the mantle. We built this beautiful new studio here at our Federico Drive studios, and we’re looking for ways to fund it.”

Heck says local dignitaries like Mayor Linda Tyer and 1Berkshire CEO Jonathan Butler will make appearances on Tuesday. The one-day on-air fundraiser – which is paired with a bake sale at the studios – will run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018 after working at stations including WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Berkshire County, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production.
