Voters will pick two Berkshire County mayors on Tuesday.

In Pittsfield, it has been a tight race between first term incumbent Linda Tyer and challenger and city councilor at-large Melissa Mazzeo. Also on the ballot are contested city council races in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th wards, as well as for six school committee seats and four at-large city council seats.

Fifteen candidates are running for North Adams’ nine city council seats, including six incumbents. Three members of the current council are not seeking re-election. North Adams voters will also decide on three school committee seats and two seats on the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School Committee, as well as Mayor Tom Bernard’s bid for a second term against challenger Rachel Branch. In Pittsfield, polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. In North Adams, they’ll be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange.
