The Pittsfield City Council meeting on September 24th, 2019

The Pittsfield, Massachusetts city council heard Mayor Linda Tyer’s proposal to attract a tech company to the city Tuesday.

City clerk Michelle Benjamin read both parts of the order out, which the mayor says will bring the business to the budding Berkshire Innovation Center.

“Number one, requesting $140,000 in Pittsfield Economic Development funds to assist Electro Magnetic Applications, Inc.," read Benjamin. "And number two is an order to certify project and tax increment financing agreement for EMA.”

The first order was referred to the subcommittee on community and economic development, which meets October 3rd, and the second to finance, which meets October 10th. EMA works with clients like NASA and SpaceX on hardware and software for space travel, and is looking to locate a new testing facility in Pittsfield.
