Healey met with students and politicians at Drury High School

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey was in the Berkshires today. The Democrat visited students in North Adams with Sandy Hook Promise co-founder Mark Barden to talk about her office’s collaboration with the nonprofit. Sandy Hook Promise is bringing its violence prevention and mental health training programs to 50 school districts across the commonwealth. Healey also spoke with WAMC about her ongoing work on the state’s opioid epidemic, as well as her reactions to the outcome of Oklahoma’s suit against the Sackler family and the Trump Administration’s efforts to corral how California can enforce emissions restrictions on the automotive industry.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
