Pittsfield City Council Challenger Says Constituents Deserve More

Mike Merriam

Pittsfield, Massachusetts native Mike Merriam is challenging four-term Ward 4 City Councilor Christopher Connell in this fall’s municipal election. The ward consists of the city's largely suburban and rural southeastern quadrant. Merriam is a FedEx employee who previously ran for city council in Ward 2 in 2015. He tells WAMC that he doesn’t see Connell offering the kind of representation that his community deserves.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018 after working at stations including WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Berkshire County, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. You can reach him at jlandes@wamc.org with questions, tips, and/or feedback.
