The Berkshire District Attorney says two suspects have been indicted on murder charges stemming from a 2017 shooting in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

The DA’s office says a Berkshire grand jury handed up first-degree murder charges against Carey Pilot, 46, and Gary Linen, 39, related to the shooting death of Asiyanna Jones.

“This office has added a charge that didn’t exist previously under the prior administration against Ms. Pilot – intimidation of a witness,” said District Attorney Andrea Harrington.

The DA says Linen was arraigned in Berkshire County Superior Court Thursday morning, and is being held without bail before a July 23rd pre-trial hearing. Pilot was arrested early Thursday at an apartment in Springfield, and was expected to be transported back to the Berkshires to face charges.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
