The Vermont office of the United States Attorney says more than a dozen people are facing federal and state drug charges following a three-day operation in the Brattleboro area.
Prosecutors say more than a dozen people were arrested or charged during last week's operation, three residences and one hotel room were searched and law enforcement seized approximately 1,000 bags or heroin and 70 grams of cocaine base.
Tom Anderson is Vermont Commissioner of Public Safety: “The message that we want to send is an uncompromising one. You stop selling this drug whether you’re addicted to it or not. You get into treatment or you get arrested.”
Twelve individuals have been charged in federal court and two are facing state charges.
All but two of the defendants have been arrested.
They are facing a variety of charges including distribution of fentanyl, heroin and cocaine base.
Most of the defendants are from the Brattleboro area, but some are from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York City.
