Public Health Group To Release Berkshire County Rankings Monday

Berkshire County’s health will be in the spotlight Monday. WAMC’s Josh Landes has more.

Laura Kittross is the manager of the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission’s public health program. She says the How Healthy Is Berkshire County? event is to release county health rankings.

“They look at health outcomes and health factors, and within those health factors that affect your health we have health behaviors, we have clinical care, we have social and economic factors, and then we have the physical environment,” Kittross told WAMC.

The County Health initiative is behind the event at 1 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield. It’s a collaboration between groups like Berkshire Health Systems, the Berkshire County Boards Of Health Commission, and more.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018 after working at stations including WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Berkshire County, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. You can reach him at jlandes@wamc.org with questions, tips, and/or feedback.
