Officials in Springfield, Massachusetts have released an annual overview of economic development activity in the region’s largest city.

The report highlighted more than $400 million in projects that got underway or were finalized in the last 12 months.

Springfield Chief Development Officer Kevin Kennedy led the presentation Tuesday, which included video highlights, before an audience of more than 200 people at the Basketball Hall of Fame.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Kennedy.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
