Burlington School Board And Teachers Agree On Contract

The Burlington School Board says it's reached a tentative contract agreement with teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.
The board and teachers union confirmed that they had agreed to reached an agreement in an email Wednesday evening. Terms of the contract agreement will be publicized after approval.

The Burlington Free Press reports Union president Andrew Styles and School Board Chairwoman Clare Wool said in a joint statement that both groups were "grateful for the opportunity to work together."

Superintendent Yaw Obeng said in a statement that he was pleased with the progress.

Burlington teachers and the school board have had issues in recent years. Teachers participated in a four-day strike in 2017 after failed talks.
