Mayor's Longtime Chief Of Staff Leaving City Hall To Run Springfield Housing Authority

A new director has been picked for the second-largest public housing authority in Massachusetts.

Denise Jordan, who has been chief of staff for Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno since he took office a decade ago, has been appointed executive director of the Springfield Housing Authority.

She will succeed Hank Abrashkin, who semi-retired last August after nine years running the housing authority.

He took over the agency when it was mired in corruption and scandal.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Jordan.
