Police in Vermont have identified the man who allegedly shot a woman in the chest early Monday morning as a bar in downtown Burlington was closing.
Burlington Police say 37-year-old Rashad Nashid fired two shots from a handgun into a crowd of people outside Nectars on Main Street in Burlington at about 2 o’clock Monday morning.

A passerby pointed out the alleged shooter to a Burlington Police Department sergeant, who confronted  him.  Police say Nashid produced a pistol and was taken into custody without further incident.

The 26-year-old woman who was shot has no connection to Nashid and is expected to survive.

Police say the suspect is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.
