A western Massachusetts city wants its employees to watch what they say on social media.
The union representing fire chiefs in the city of Springfield has become the first to agree to a social media policy in a contract with the city.
It sets guidelines for what the members of the union can say on their individual social media accounts.
Mayor Domenic Sarno hopes the other city unions follow suit.
" I understand the First Amendment and free speech, but there is also respect and there is no room for hate-speech," Sarno said.
Violations of the social media policy could result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
