Vermont Governor Phil Scott activated the state Emergency Operations Center on Monday in the wake of high winds that caused power outages throughout the state.
About one-third of Vermonters lost power and roads were blocked by downed trees and debris during the windstorm.  The Governor says the emergency center will coordinate restoration efforts.  “State agencies, utilities, the Vermont National Guard,  Red Cross and others are working together in the EOC to assist communities in response and recovery. The storm and winds resulted in 70,000 homes and businesses without power at some point.”

It could be days — and even into the weekend in some areas — before all power is restored.
