Female Lawmakers Call For Action After Boston Globe Column On Sexual Harassment At State House

en.wikipedia.org

Following a piece in the Boston Globe alleging sexual harassment at the Massachusetts State House, female lawmakers say no one should feel unsafe at the capitol.

The Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators Sexual Assault Working Group is calling for an anonymous State House climate survey to determine the level of sexual harassment within the building, comprehensive and mandatory sexual harassment training for all state employees, and other measures.

The group said it is “disturbing to learn that outside organization must provide education to staff and interns on what legislators and aides to avoid.”

The Friday column claimed Massachusetts politics is “lousy” with sexual harassment after interviewing a dozen women who have worked at or around the State House over the last two decades.
