Renovating the school in Clarksburg, Massachusetts may not cost as much as initially estimated.

The Clarksburg School Building Committee met Tuesday to discuss the residential tax burden of the Clarksburg School renovation and expansion.

iBerkshires reports the committee says the $19 million expansion would mean an additional $3.25 per $1,000 of assed value on tax bills: about $550 for the average household.

The community’s share is $7.7 million, down from the $8.5 million originally projected before the Massachusetts School Building Authority weighed in about its reimbursement rate.

There will be a special town meeting Sept. 27th and a vote on a debt exclusion plan for the project Oct. 10th.
