Vermont officials have unveiled a plan to renovate a city park following concerns about violence in the area.
The Burlington Department of Planning and Zoning says they plan to install a new fountain, public restrooms, realign paths and fix drainage issues at City Hall Park in Burlington.

Mayor Miro Weinberger tells WCAX-TV the renovation will increase the public's use of the park and improve safety. His comments come a week after a stabbing at the park that sent a man to a hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

Officials say the project will cost about$3 million. The park design will need approval from the parks commission, the City Council and the development review board.

Planners hope construction can begin in the spring of 2019.
