The Massachusetts Veterans War Memorial Tower on the summit of Mount Greylock is now fully open.

After two years and $2.8 million in renovations, the Veterans War Memorial Tower atop Mount Greylock is open to the public.

The renovation project mainly updated the beacon on top of the tower with LED lighting – making it four times brighter than when it was shut down in 2013.

On a clear day, the beacon can be seen in Springfield, 70 miles away.

Other modifications were made to repair water damage to the granite stone tower.
