A new effort to cultivate the Berkshire farming and food-production economy has emerged in Great Barrington.
The Berkshire Agricultural Ventures nonprofit is not a new organization (it was started in 2011), but new leadership set a new goal after coming on board in May.
The Great Barrington-based organization wants to offer support to regional farmers and food businesses by giving them access to capital, technology and other resources.
The goal is to help get food and farm startups off the ground and connect them with established companies.
