Vermont Senate Approves Legal Pot Measure

A legal marijuana plan has suddenly resurfaced and passed the Vermont Senate on a 21-9 vote, though it's highly unlikely the House will move on the bill this year.
On Wednesday, Senate Democrats revealed they plan to insert the entirety of a legal marijuana bill with robust "seed-to-sale" regulations to an unrelated House bill through an amendment. On Friday their plan worked, and the bill passed in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Senators say they have no hopes that the House will take up the measure this year. They are looking to January of next year, when the bill will be waiting for House members to consider in the second year of Vermont's lawmaking session.
