Seniors in Pittsfield can now apply for a tax abatement for the next fiscal year.
Residents age 60 and older can ask to have their property tax reduced on major improvements and construction projects on their homes.
No more than two people from the same residence can apply. To qualify, a married couple’s yearly income cannot exceed roughly $35,000, and for single people it’s about $29,000.
Exemptions are capped at $1,000.
