There are more than 10 million recipients across the country.

Connecticut’s federal and state leaders want to introduce legislation to strengthen and expand Social Security.

The bill, supported by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congresspeople Elizabeth Esty and John Larson, would cut taxes for Social Security recipients and provide a benefit bump for current and future beneficiaries.

They say the system needs to stay strong for the next generation.

There are 600,000 retired workers, disabled people and families who depend on Social Security to pay their bills. There are more than 10 million recipients across the country.
