Vermont has joined more than 30 other states in a national lawsuit that alleges a group of pharmaceutical companies conspired to fix the prices of generic drugs.
Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan says the lawsuit filed in federal court in Connecticut in December helps address the "harm caused by generic drug manufacturers who seek to maximize their profits at the expense of consumers."

The suit claims that six companies that include Mylan Pharmaceuticals worked together to fix the prices of two generic drugs: doxycycline hyclate delayed release, an antibiotic that treats severe acne, and glyburide, a Type 2 diabetes medication.

A spokeswoman for Mylan Pharmaceuticals told The Burlington Free Press that officials know of no evidence that Mylan participated in price fixing.
