The School Board in Vermont's largest city has condemned Facebook posts of a board member that were widely deemed racist and sexist.
Burlington school commissioners passed a resolution Thursday evening that chastised board member David Kirk for posts suggesting he was more offended by images of blacks wearing baggy pants than by posts about the Confederate flag or another showing a woman tied to a bed.

Kirk has apologized, but was not at the meeting where his fellow commissioners unanimously passed a resolution condemning the posts.

The resolution called the Facebook posts "at fundamental variance with the standards of conduct and example desired by the board for its members."

Kirk did not immediately reply to a voicemail message seeking comment.
