Bennington Contamination Update Scheduled For Wednesday Evening

PFOA formula

Vermont health and environmental officials are reminding residents in the Bennington area about a meeting this evening to address the chemical contamination of local water supplies.

A community forum is scheduled for this evening to discuss the status of dialogue between Vermont and company Saint-Gobain, updates on current drinking water maintenance plans and long-term remediation options, and updates from the state Department of Health.

Water supplies in Bennington and North Bennington are contaminated with the chemical PFOA, also found in water supplies in nearby Hoosick Falls and Petersburgh, New York.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Tishman Lecture Hall at Bennington College.
