Gardeners in Burlington, Vermont are on the lookout for someone who's been stealing flower baskets and uprooting plants from yards.
A community website says at least 26 gardeners have reported their trees, flowers or hanging baskets have been stolen since June 8. Police say they received six formal complaints and an officer is investigating.
Bradley Street resident Emily Lee says "it's not a vandalism event" because the plants were "carefully dug up." She says it's a sign the plants will be transplanted.
Authorities say these are tough cases due to the lack of evidence left behind, but they're following possible leads.
Neighbors say they're brainstorming other ways of catching the flower prowler. Those include using cameras to catch the person or rewards to find the person.
