The Massachusetts Hospital Association is adding its voice to those opposed to legalizing the recreational use of marijuana.
The association's board of directors voted unanimously against the measure, pointing to what it called the public health and safety concerns related to legalization, including the commercialization of the drug and increased youth accessibility.
The group isn't alone.
Republican Gov. Charlie Baker, Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey and Democratic Boston Mayor Marty Walsh wrote a letter in The Boston Globe last week opposing the ballot question.
The proposal would allow the recreational use of marijuana and possession of up to an ounce for those 21 and older.
It would also allow individuals to possess up to 10 ounces of marijuana in their homes.
The question could appear on the November ballot.
