North Bennington, Vermont is the latest city to find unsafe levels of a harmful chemical in water supplies.
Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin released test results Thursday showing a number of water sources in North Bennington show varying levels of Perfluorooctanoic or PFOA, a possible carcinogen.

The Vermont DEC tested the water following reports of PFOA contamination in neighboring Hoosick Falls, NY.

North Bennington’s public water supply is not affected but some residential and commercial wells tested above Vermont standards.

Community meetings have been scheduled Friday at 4 p.m. at the North Bennington Firehouse and Monday at 6 p.m. during Bennington’s Town Meeting Day.
