Wood Pellet Facility Proposed At Former Paper Mill

U.S. Department of Agriculture

A Vermont selectman says a proposed wood pellet production facility would make "all the difference in the world" for the struggling logging business.
Lunenburg selectman Amos Colby tells The Caledonian Record he supports a Kingdom Pellets proposal to build a $5 million pellet facility at the former Gilman paper mill site on the Connecticut River.

An application for state funding states the project would produce 60 million pounds of wood pellets each year and create more than 20 full time jobs with living wages, health care coverage and profit sharing.

Construction could begin as soon as May 2016 and pellet production could begin in October 2016.

A public information hearing on the project is scheduled at the town offices on Nov. 23.
