Holyoke business owner Francis O'Connell, making his first run for public office, finished second in the preliminary election for Holyoke mayor.  He will be in the Nov. 3rd election ballot with two-term incumbent Mayor Alex Morse.   Morse received 2,694 votes in Tuesday's preliminary election. O'Connell had 2,450. A third candidate, Holyoke City Councilor Anthony Soto was eliminated from the mayor's race by a third place finish with 1,145 votes. Twenty-five percent of Holyoke's registered voters cast ballots in the preliminary.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts.
