Body Recovered From Connecticut Pond

A woman's body has been pulled from a pond in New Hartford.

Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials say the body found Sunday evening may be that of 53-year-old Patricia Cole. Cole disappeared while kayaking on New Year's Day on Brodie Pond on West Hill Road and a friend reported her missing the next morning. The weather then turned bitterly cold, freezing the pond over for months.

Police were called to the pond at 5:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of a body in the water. EMS crews pronounced the woman dead.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death and identify the body.
