Streak Of Below Freezing Days Ends In Vermont

Last month was the coldest February on record in parts of Vermont. The temperature stayed below freezing for 43 consecutive days in parts of the state up until Wednesday.

It is the second-longest streak of below-freezing days for Montpelier and St. Johnsbury.

Montpelier and Rutland recorded the coldest Februaries ever experienced .

The average temperature was 5.1 degrees in Montpelier, when it typically averages 19.9 degrees. Rutland endured a chilly average of 5.2 degrees when the normal average for February is 20.7 degrees.

The National Weather Service says more seasonal temperatures — in the 20s and 30s — are forecast for this weekend and next week.
