U.S. Air Force/Wikimedia Commons Public Domain

Forty Vermont National Guard members are heading to Massachusetts to help remove snow following record snowfall in that state.

Governor Peter Shumlin spoke to Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and signed the order authorizing the deployment Tuesday evening.

Vermont is also sending 12 dump trucks and other snow removal equipment along with the Guard members in the coming days. Massachusetts, which has requested help, is paying for the Guard mission, which is authorized for up to 15 days.
