Vermont Wildlife Management Areas Expanded In Addison County

The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife says two wildlife management areas in Addison County have been expanded.

The department says a 75-acre land donation helped expand the Lower Otter Creek Wildlife Management Area in Ferrisburgh, bringing it to more than 800 acres.

The area is largely wetlands and flood plain forest near the mouth of Otter Creek. The state's acquisition of the property opens up the area to the public because the parcel had been posted against all access.

The second addition is 20 acres that is now part of the 2,000-acre Lewis Creek Wildlife Management Area. The parcel contains three tributary streams of Lewis Creek and consists largely of mature hardwood forest.
