Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey vowed Thursday to thwart any attempts by organized crime to infiltrate the emerging casino industry in Massachusetts.

Beginning her first full day in office, Healey spoke at a hearing of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and said she is dedicated to investigate any criminal allegations involving the casinos and enforce consumer protection laws when it comes to gambling.

" In this new era it is important the public feel confident  in the process and that no new casinos will be brought on line before meeting commitments and following the law," Healey said.

Healey urged the commission to carefully consider pending regulations on where ATM machines can be located in casinos, proposed limits on daily withdrawals from cash machines, rules for credit extension and debt collection.
