Changes in passenger rail service begin today in western Massachusetts.
The Amtrak Vermonter will be traveling on a new route dubbed the Knowledge Corridor. The twice-daily train will speed along on new state-of-the-art rails at 70-80 mph and make new stops in Northampton, Greenfield, and eventually Holyoke after a new passenger platform is built there. Reenie Clancy of South Deerfield welcomes the new train service.
"Anything that will support better use of our limited resources I support and the train is one of them," said Clancy.
Gov. Deval Patrick and other VIP’s took a ceremonial inaugural trip a week ago to promote the new high speed rail service
