Privacy Concerns Raised About Vermont Town Reports

Voters in Pittsford, Vermont, will be discussing privacy concerns at next year's Town Meeting.

The Rutland Herald reports that some residents are concerned that listing birth, marriage, civil union and death notices in the town's annual report harms their privacy. Town Manager John Haverstock says he consulted with both the Vermont Clerks' Association and the Vermont League of Cities and Towns, but did not receive consistent answers. The Select Board has agreed to put the issue on the agenda for Town Meeting in March.
