Nor'easter To Test FairPoint's Replacement Workers

Striking workers say a nor'easter is going to test FairPoint Communications' replacement workforce in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

More than 1,700 FairPoint workers went on strike Friday, demanding that the company return to the bargaining table. The company is hiring temporary replacement workers to maintain the system.

Jim Feeney, an outside repair technician in Bangor, Maine, says FairPoint hasn't invested in maintenance and that wind-driven rain could cause problems for customers.

A FairPoint spokeswoman has said the company has a plan in place to minimize disruptions for telephone and high-speed Internet customers across the three states.
